For those that have been around this blog for a while, you might have figured out that My Favorite Latte Mum is a bit more grown-up than me, and I will say that her and her hubby proved it by moving to a house. This past Saturday they had a housewarming in the said house and of course I attended the same.
The invite stated a starting time of 11am and since they moved to the far far location of middle of nowhere it meant an early start and some out of budget purchasing.
For the first time in a long while I also went on one of the local busses, I couldn’t help myself I just had to take a picture.
Far far away does require more than one bus and at the second change the buss I was on was a little bit late and the bus I was getting on was a couple of minutes early thus I got to spend half an hour at this place;
The long trip was totally worth it, when I arrived at far far away there was cold beer and homemade langos waiting for me.
I pretty much spent the whole day eating, drinking and enjoying the company of my fav latte mum and a sweet lady that kept speaking finish all the time.
I ended up being back home around 10pm after a swell day. Not to sure I will visit the place of far far away to often, luckily enough latte mum still have to pass by Malmö on her way home from work so I’m hoping for some quality time for the two of us still.

This Tuesday I were to do something that I haven’t done since I was a teenager, Orienteering! The weather was amazing the whole day while I was stuck in the office, however as time ticked closer to six o’clock and go time the grey clouds were gathering in the area were the exercise was to take place, if you looked in the opposite direction, where you also found my home, the sky was blue and sun shining. I was briefly considering to just flag the whole thing and just go home, it was just that I had been looking forward for days.
Over the past couple of years I have really started missing my old orienteering days and have been considering starting again, and just never gotten around to it. So when there was a Orienteering session planned through MeetUp, I was on. So I jumped on my bike and headed towards the clouds, and surprisingly enough I didn’t make it far before the sky opened up. Since I was to meet people I just kept biking even if it was though, we are not talking about some gentle summer rain here, nope it was a proper downpour and when I finally made it to my destination I was soaking wet.
As I was standing under cover realizing that everything was wet, my bag didn’t keep the rain out, and as I started freezing I was again in a mood to go home. Then being a bit grown-up I figured I might as well just head out, I mean I was already soaking wet so a little bit more rain didn’t matter.
Since I had gotten talking with the girl that organized the MeetUp session, we decided to head out together and it worked fine. Both of us was in it for the fun not the winning, so we ran a bit, walked a bit and talked a lot. After a small session of lightning and thunder the rain subsided and stopped completely. All in all, it turned out to be a real good evening, and it was just as much fun as I remembered it to be.
I will totally attend next week’s session, try to get some friends in the local club and come fall, if it’s still fun I will try and keep at it, maybe run a couple of races as well. That is fall though, we’ll see.
Today Mr Grumpy Jr came over to celebrate Lady T’s birthday with her and I was invited as well. We started with lunch at a real nice place just up the street from me, food picture required;
It was pouring down rain at this point, so much it was coming down the walls of the covered outdoor area we were sitting in. Staring at the water coming down the walls we realized someone forgot their caine;
Lady T also realized that there was a big hole in one of my favorite sweaters.
I’ve been wearing that to work I don’t know how many times and no one mentioned it. I also had it for i don’t know how many years so it’s fine to retire it. Miss T then mentioned that there was a sale on at my favorite store. Hey if you throw something out you are allowed to replace it. It might not have been replaced with something too similar but at least with something I know I’ll love for years to come. And I got to do a very fashionable changing room selfie!

Last years small disappointment made me not wanting a BBQ party at my place for this years Midsummer festivities, actually I had pretty much decided on sitting at home watching TV pretending that it wasn’t Midsummer at all. That was not to happen though as Miss Legal made it known that she would me bringing her man over to the Swedish side of the bridge celebrations, and of course I can’t say no to that. It’s not like we hang all the time anymore and some me and Miss Legal time (well and da man) is a rare occurrence that I wasn’t to turn down. And since Denmark is not celebrating this magical time she had to work all day so I got to be a Midsummer escapee most of the day, as celebrations usually start around noon and not sixish as ours did.
It started with the welcome drink that my guests brought, a spritzer;
Then apparently you have to make a cake;
I tried out a real yum beer that I never had before, recommended!
And I learnt to eat corn on the cobb in a new way, so yum! Rub in a thick layer of Creme fraiche, salt, pepper and chili and the add some Parmesan cheese, I didn’t belive it at first but boy was it yum!!!
All in all we had a real nice weather hiding under the parasol in my yard, chatting the whole evening away about everything between heaven and earth. My guests departed at midnight and I hit the sack being dead tired (after calling my mother to tell her I lover her, good drunken calling there girl).
Waking up this morning was not a hit, a tad bit hung-over, my age is totally catching up to me when it comes to alcohol, and walking into my kitchen looking like this.
The downside with having guests, having to clean up the day after. Thus I have spent the whole day avoiding going into my kitchen so I don’t have to see it. Today will have to be a day of recovery, cleaning can wait until tomorrow! And I think that next year there will be a proper BBQ party with all my friends invited again, I had forgotten how nice it is to hang out in my yard. So there my peeps, something to look forward to next year.
My trip home on Monday wasn’t planned until the evening, which gave me some time to enjoy my second home for a while longer. Not setting the alarm in the morning, just taking it slow before heading out with mother dearest to look at glasses for her, brought an accidental buy, nerd alert. I got a pair of those sunnies that you wear over your normal glasses, however better than nothing and not looking as bad as I thought it would.
The quality time continued as I had a lunch date with my sister and our old neighbor, we lived next door to each other for about 12 years, her being of the age inbetween me and my sister so we could hang out all of us. Lately we have picked up contact a bit more with lunch dates in Gotham and coffee breaks when she visit Malmö with her family. It’s the magic of Facebook I think, to be able to reconnect with the people from the past that you actually want to meet still.
Both Old neighbor and Sister had to rush back to work, while I could make my way back to mothers and a coffee by the water. It was pretty cool to sit there and watch the Coast Guard float past. That is not a boat you see every day!
After all of this, there wasn’t time for much more than head to the train station and the train that would take me back home to my every-day life. Weekends like the one that passed can make me want to move back to Gotham. Then I remember that not every weekend at home is like this one was, and that I have weekends like that in Malmö as well – then I don’t want to move anymore, I’m quite happy where I am, and I have a pretty decent weekend ahead of me as well. But first, work!
The exciting weekend continued on Sunday, barely recovered from the park-session with my old classmates, me and mummy dearest were picked up by my sister and her two little princesses (my nieces) on Sunday morning. The car took us north of Gotham to the beautiful location of Tjörn where the Nordic museum of watercolor is placed.
Reason for the trip was an article I read in my very fav mag last weekend about an apparently quite famous painter, and I fell madly in love with one of his paintings.
When my mother heard the which museum that was showing his paintings at the moment she told me we could do a road-trip and my sister was keen to join.
After what felt like forever (again, me hung-over) with a very hungry tummy we finally made it to the beautiful Swedish coast and lunch, while the rest of the crew paced themselves I went all out with both a starter, a lovely session of salmon and shrimp as well as fish main;
It tasted just as fab as it looks.
Then the excitement started, the paintings were even cooler and more amazing in real life than when you goggled them. The details and lights were jaw dropping! It’s amazing how you can create such amazing things with just water and some color.
Of course you can’t leave such a place without doing some painting yourself, well I could, and my sister even made a small painting that I’m now frame hunting for as it’s going up on my bedroom wall.
After the long day we drow back home for dinner where grandmother joined as well, so Sunday became a day of family.
My Saturday started with a proper fry-up to ensure I was ready for the day to come.
18 years ago we finished the nine years of required swedish school, and i figured it was time that we meet up again. In December last year, in the middle of a session of insomnia, o sent out an invite to the old classmates I had on Facebook. They in turn sent out an invite to the old classmates they had as friends on Facebook. We managed to get a good crew going, and decided that yesterday was a good day to meet. And it was.
Me and my bestest friend started at mummies balcony with some bubbles.
After being joined by yet another classmate we then headed into town and one of Gothams prettiest parks.
The rest of the afternoon was spent in the park with a good group of people that just like me thought that seeing the old crew was a fab idea. I also reverted back to my old teenage behavior of drinking wine straight out of the bottle.
It was real fun to see what people look like now and hear what they are doing. The evening continued late at one of the establishments of Gotham City, the alcohol was flowing so I hope I behaved myself!
