Friday dinner

On my way home from work I stopped by the grocery store to get everything you need for a lazy weekend on the couch, ensuring I could head home to my couch not having to leave it for the rest of the weekend.

However, one of my friends texted and wondered if I was up for some Surf shack, and since they got awesome food and doesn’t require too long of a walk, I did leave the couch for a short while. It was worth it though;

And it was a good time to use my new shoes that I picked up in last week’s crazy shopping spree.

Sooper nice!

The Book Club

Bookcircling

Yesterday it was time for our tenth (!!!) monthly book circle meeting, I’m happy that it has lasted this long. This time around I was a bit late in ordering the book as it arrived in my book delivery earlier this week.

Luckily enough it’s the thin book at the top that we are talking about. So I manged to finish reading it right before meeting the rest. I headed to the restaurant an hour before and sat down with a glass of wine and my book.

This place is very close to where I live and had super comfy reading chairs, so it might be a new fav place to sit and read, just hope that their coffee taste as good as their wine.
The place is Mexican and had an interesting menu;

We did a little mix and match so I had a fish taco, a meat taco and a Quesedilla.

Super yum, a place that I want to go back to.

And apparently it’s a Marcus Samuelsson place, pretty cool as I find him to be an interesting chef.

Quality of Life

An evening in the park

Me and The best neighbor in the world walked across the street to the park tonight, it’s pure luxury to live so close to this;

Returning home, as you do

Even the fantastic celebrating-the-brother-in-law weekend had to end. After a fab party with a family lunch with yum food and a nice evening with his friends (and a pressie that I picked up while in Germany);

I was stuck with babysitting duty on the Sunday. So I had to play with playdoh when my sister and hubby went to clean up after the party, I feel that I might have gotten the better end of that deal.

The day went quickly and all of the sudden it was time to jump on the train to take me home, overloaded with leftover food from the party. Another score for me.

Now I don’t have any plans of returning to Gotham City until September, so there should be a while before the next train post. Unless I head to the summerhouse sometime in August, time will tell.

Travels

Farewell my friend, you will be missed!

It’s with a sad heart that I’m writing this post. For many years now, twelweish to be exact, I’ve had a very trusted companion with me on my journeys around the globe. I have to admit that twelve years is a good run and I never thought that our friendship would last that long, as everything else also this friendship had to end.

This fantastic backpack that loyal readers of the blog have seen many a times, are no more (well, until my mother returns home and throw it out because I didn’t have the heart to do it) and I already miss it. I mean, what can beat the pocket for my cd Walkman?

The hole for the headphones?

The space for that flashlight I always have with me?

There are so many memories; Fiji,going empty almost to Berlin, a week or so in the states, trains, planes, boats, the list goes on.
I have, very coldly, replaced my loyal friend with a new one;

Who’s currently partaking it’s first train trip. It’s gonna take same time to get used to a new backpack and I really hope it will work out between us, the last backpack did set the bar pretty high.

RIP The backpack 2003-2015. Always remembered, never forgotten!

Shopping

Payday

Today was payday, and I happened to have the day of. So on this second fulltime paycheck for a very long time (that also was a bit larger than expected), I went nuts at the mall;

I now have a new dress for my brother-in-laws party tomorrow, some new t-shirts, shoes and a new travel companion. Fun it was!

Trains

I’m starting to embrace train rides rather than fearing them

This weekend it’s time to celebrate my brother in-laws 40th birthday (wow, he’s getting old) so I need to go to Gotham City and hang with the family. However, since me and my mother are crazy busy people with our fantastic lives, we haven’t seen each other that much (compare to how it has been this spring) so I decided to take Friday off work to spend the day with her instead.

I was checking in with her, making sure she hadn’t made other plans for Friday, her answer was that she had counted on me showing up and wondered if I wanted to meet in Gotham or the summerhouse. Wow, what a though choice! I can tell you that one day in the summer house is better than a day in Gotham, every time. So now I’m sitting on the train towards the summer house.

The old workaholic me is returning though, as I’m sitting with my work PC in my lap writing this.

What can I say, I really like my work at the moment! But it’s only until 18:08, that’s when I arrive to my connection and the PC will be packed away for the weekend. Instead, I might open up the private PC that I have in the computer bag as well, and spend the weekend catching up on the blog.

I’m going back and forth wether or not I should bother with updating what’s been going on over the past month or not. I realized that I didn’t post a single thing during June, not because nothing happened but because I never got around to it. So I might put in the work to do that, or maybe I’ll just look forward and blog of the things to come.
