The 2015 Reading Challenge

The 2015 Reading Challenge – #4 Bonus

The #4 on my reading challenge was the first book in a series, and since it was so good I got my hands on the second book as well. I couldn’t find book 3 and 4 in my usual on-line book store, so the hunt will continue because I have a need to know how this ends.DSC_1016

The 2015 Reading Challenge

The 2015 Reading Challenge – #7 Asian literary price

I can’t say that I’ve read that many books by Korea authors, this being the first what I know, I now know I want to read more. It’s been hard to put this away and revolving around the loss of a parent I can sympathize and receive comfort. Another highly recommend book and yet another good output from my reading challenge.

Vacation books

Vacation means reading, and even if the Queen Herself had a packed schedule for us, I managed a few books;

First day home

It is nice to be away, it’s also nice to be back home, especially when your neighbour have been by with breakfast food so you can have a cup of Swedish coffee and sandwich.

Travelling home also meant a 30 degree drop in temperature and I had to scrape of the ice from my bike before heading to work. Just a tad bit different than the past two weeks.DSC_1288

Work was semi efficient, I managed to clear my inbox at least. I left a bit early due to pure tiredness. To avoid going home and crash into bed, I did a pit stop on the corner that this eve had live music. It was nice to chill for a bit

After dropping of pressies with the neighbour I then went home and dug into the big box that was placed outside my door.DSC_1290

I had some problems with my food delivery this time around. I was expecting a box delivered yesterday, then I found out that I had missed out on cancelling the one for today. So I thought that I would have food overload. Luckily enough, there was problems with the delivery yesterday so that food didn’t arrive. Sometimes things just work out.

Dinner was thus meat paddies in pita bread with hummus and salad, yum! I even managed to stay awake until ten pm, wow!

Friends in the right places

After sleeping, walking around, sleeping and then walking some more and yes, finishing my last book! I got me a new book and some breakfast before it was time to get on my flight.

image

It was a quite empty plane so I had two seats to myself and could therefore lie down moat of the time, sweet!

image

Then came Düsseldorf and also here I had an redicolous amount of eight hours before my connection to Copenhagen (seriously crap planning!!!). Luckily enough I have a friend in Essen which is about 25 minutes on the train from Düsseldorf airport and she didn’t have any plans for this afternoon.  So I jumped on the train and headed there.
We sat down for a drink, my last vacation beer.

image

After talking for a few hours we headed out to the Christmas market (me wrapped in an airplane blanket as I had no warm winter clothes with me) and had a look around before she dropped me back at the airport.

image

image

My final flight went without a hitch, at least to my knowledge as I slept the whole way. My luggage was one of the first to arrive (guess the traveling Gods took pitey on me after the long trip) so I could walk almost straight on to the train heading to Malmö.
Arriving on the Swedish side you nowadays have to show your passport, it’s a strange feeling and it kind of feels like the Europe I left two weeks ago isn’t the same as the one I now arrived back to. So much have happened.
At least I made it home and can sleep in my own bed tonight.
Peace out ma peeps!

Half way home…ish

One could think that with all the traveling I do, I would know to check the times of the flights when I book and realize it’s worth the extra money to have shorter times between connections.
This day started in Ha Noi where we had a bit of sleep in before breakfast. Banan pancakes!

image

I then had time to watch Ritchie Ritch on TV before having a shower, finish the rest of my packing and check out and getting in to the car for the airport. I’m gonna miss being picked up in cars when I get home.

image

The first flight took us to Ho Chi Minh and came with a light snack.

image

In Ho Chi Minh there was a last goodbye to Vietnam before getting on the flight to Abu Dhabi.

image

image

That’s where I am now, I walked the Queen herself to her gate, she obviously paid more than I did for her flight then I did so she’s already in the air while I have another six hours before my flight for Düsseldorf boards.

Enjoying a coffee while charging my phone…fun times.

Back to Ha Noi

The train arrived silly early in the morning and this time there was no coffee waiting for me when I woke up. We also didn’t have pick-up sorted, instead we had to find a taxi to take us to our hotel, where there was coffee!

image

When you arrive silly early there’s usually no room available for you, instead we dumped our things and headed out trying to find some western brekkie as both of us is feeling a bit noodled out. We didn’t find any and it ended with me eating a day old croissant that I bought in Sa Pa.
The first touristy stop was the Lenin Park.

image

Where at 8 am in the morning there was  a random dance party going on…

image

Then we continued to the Hotel Chi Minh presidential palace and mausoleum.

image

image

image

image

Then we continued walking to the first University in Vietnam.

image

image

image

image

I then needed a coffee break, mostly to calm my nerves as I’m still a bit skittish about crossing the roads since the moped incident (the Queen herself did have to take me by the hand sometimes). Next to the coffee place was a place that sold covers for my phone, so all you people that have been nagging me about getting one, it’s now sorted!

image

The touristy stuff then continued with a prison, interesting and disgusting at the same time. Those French people weren’t super nice people back then.

image

image

image

image

Escaping the prison we had a look at the time and realized that we manged to kill plenty of time and we turned back towards the hotel and walked past some of the things that the Queen herself saw without me the last trip here.

image

image

image

Before the hotel we did stop so that the Queen herself could have a cupcake that she dreamed of for days, I had a juice.

image

image

After chillin at the hotel for a bit, and finally having a shower I headed out for a lunch, without noodles.

image

As the trip is coming to its end there comes a time to buy presents. I’ve been trying to limit myself, however after a trip to the market it feels like my bags contains more presents than my things.

image

Dumping the purchases at the hotel, we waisted no time there and just headed straight out as again for a pre waterpuppet show drink.

image

image

The most expensive beer since I arrived here, note to one self don’t pick the place right next door to the longest running water puppet show ever.
The water puppets were interesting.

Dinner time came around, you haven’t really enjoyed Vietnam if you haven’t sat down on small plastic chairs for food.

image

This evening I enjoyed even more deep fried prawns from a kitchen that you were welcome to come in and have a look at.

image

image

image

Under the influence of a small food coma it was packing time, and after careful planning I really hope that the contents of my bag doesn’t break on the way home. It was also time to say farwell to these babies;

image

They have been with me for over ten years, and it hurts to chuck them out, however hurting is what I do when I wear them.
A very long day finally coming to an end, last night in Vietnam before starting the long trip home.
