Vietnam 2015

Mekong Delta

7:30 pickup, not sure I approve! In order to sleep longer, this was today’s breakfast;

Before jumping in to today’s ride (no mum, I’m not getting into cars with strangers) that would take us south.

Halfway to our destination we stopped at a restaurant for proper breakfast, proper Vietnamese breakfast that is, beef noodle soup.

Before reaching our actual destination that is the paradise I’m writing this post in, I had to get on one of these;

For those who doesn’t actually know me you need to know that I’m terrified of water and being on boats scare the shit out of me, the smaller the boat the worse it is.

First leg was OK, only a few times when waves from boats around us made the boat rock did the fear kick in (think the Queen herself have a picture where it shows) and our first destination made me forget all about the boat.
It was a place where they made super yum coconut candy and rice wine. It was amazing to see how they managed to use every part of both the coconut and the rice.

I also picked up a couple of these to calm my nerves on the water;

The second stop was vitenamese music, we arrived early so our guide took us around the back yard while waiting;

As I was in the progress of my second beer I was informed that I should get into one of these;

And for the second day in a row the Queen herself got an experience that I didn’t get as I just couldn’t get myself to do it. I’m all for facing your fears, however I am on vacation and here to relax so I stayed on the big boat while she enjoyed the little one.
After that it was lunch time and man do they feed you;

For the last time on this day it was time for the boat, and based on research we now know that three beers make me calm enough to kind of enjoy the boating experience.

The homestead that we arrived to is pure paradise, the afternoon and evening was spent in a hammock with a good book before cooking dinner with the family that owns this place.

I have now made my own springrolls, whoop whoop!
After a long day with large meals it shouldn’t be a problem hitting the sack early  thinking that a 7:30 pickup was early, tomorrow should be worse as we are eating brekkie at 6am!!!!

Good night my peeps.
