#12 2018 A chillaxing Friday

Waking up eluded me also this morning so it was straight into an intense work shift at the home office as today was only a half-day with the afternoon off. I had to make sure to get as much done as possible while sitting in on an almost two-hour process overview meeting.

IMG_20180112_103608.jpgAfter being able to turn the computer off, I hit a quick shower (at this point I was hoping that I would also be washing of the residues of a run, with the sleep habits…didn’t happen) before taking the elevator downstairs to meet up with the old neighbour. When I say old neighbour, it’s not that she’s old, it’s more that we where neighbours back in the days from when I was five until I was 17.

She work not that far from where mother lives so we have started to meet up for lunch every now and then when I’m working from Gotham City. Always nice when your lunch comes with a view.

IMG_20180112_113904.jpgAfter nice food and nice chat, it was time for the main event. The whole reason that I got on a train to Gotham on Thursday night instead of Friday…the yearly birthday-movie-date-with-the-niece. It’s real fun to surprise her at school for some me and her time at the movies. She was super happy and excited with problems sitting still on the tram into town.

IMG_20180112_132302.jpgA part of the movie tradition (I want to belive that the alone time with me is more important than this part, not too sure though) is the any snack you want shopping. We totally go all in on this. I think the adorable part is that both the girls always insist that the left-overs are brought home to the sister that didn’t have their birthday. So left-over snacks is now a tradition with my nieces.

Can you identify all the different snacks?

One could think that this post would end with me dropping of my niece with her parents (oh, by the way, we saw The Story of Ferdinand, and I totally recommend it!), instead I went home and changed into my running clothes. So I finally got my Thursday run done.

Feeling mighty pleased with myself.

And then was my day done?

No, then it was dinner time, and as you should when you are in Gotham, we ate shrimps and I celebrated my run with a glass of wine (well, might be on my third one by now).

IMG_20180112_185952.jpgAnd then I spent the rest of the night on the couch doing nothing…nah just kidding.

Then I had a planning date with one of my old NZ buddies. She’s taking a trip over to Europe in May, two weeks of us two travelling around so we needed to sort out the dates and stuff like that.

If you want to help, any good ideas on what to do or see in Amsterdam, Berlin, Prag or Vienna are more than welcome 🙂

And now, I will spend the rest of the evening (kind of not that much left of it) on the couch with Candy crush soda. I think I deserved it.

#2 2018 Back in the office

It’s about a week and a half since I was in the office last, it feels like so much longer ago – strange. I managed to get back into it by setting the famous coffee machine last night and bring my office survival kit with me this morning.

I remembered my pin to get into the building as well as my computer password (which isn’t that strange as I was working from home last week), whoop whoop. Loads of people are still enjoying their holidays so it’s nice and peaceful in the office.

And even though I did bring lunch with me from home, I ended up heading out with some of my colleagues. The food I brought will work tomorrow as well and I had burger cravings so I managed to lure the peeps to Surf Shak 🙂

Garlic fries to die for!!!

Now there’s a few more hours of work required before heading out, and the goal is to be super efficient as the first half of the day was spent chatting with the colleagues and ordering my book for the upcoming uni course in math.

Company Christmasparty

It is that time of the year, all the christmas parties and the likes. Last night we had the company christmas party and I went all in with a dress, gloves and all.

Me and a few colleagues kicked of the evening with a little cava at the Green Lion Inn.

The location chosen for this years party was amazing with beautiful views over the Malmö Harbour.

Dinner kicked of with a starter before a yum, yum buffet…

After dinner there the dancing started with live Saxophone music and the required drink tickets for the bar (at one point I had about 20).

The plan was for one glass of wine after dinner and then homewards, even the best laid plans though as I ended up being one of the ones closing the party 15 minutes to twelve…

Merry hotel brekkie Tuesday

Since I’m away I stay in a hotel it means hotel breakfast.

I followed this yum meal with managing to dip my scarf in the coffee.

Then it was course time, another interesting day with sandwiches and candy.

As the day moved on the snow kept coming down and I started to worry about my flight. If it would keep coming down the way it would be a night in another hotel. As I’m now sitting on the train towards the airport the snow has subsided so home is looming on the horizon.

Fingers crossed ma peeps.

Oh what a day (again, know I keep having them)

I left you with this mornings chaos and the interesting findings in my bag. The day that ensued has been intense.

The plane landed ten minutes early, not sure how that happened, I reached the platform for the train that would bring me to the city a minute before the train arrived on the platform. There was power outlets on the train so I could properly charge my work phone during the extremely smooth trip to the city.

All of the sudden I had plenty of time so I could take my time navigating the central station of The Capitol in order to find the metro that will take me to the hotel and course location. Still I arrived half an hour early, the hotel could give me my room straight away so I could drop my stuff of and breath before the course started.

The nice thing about paid for courses are that they start with morning fika before getting into it.

We are a group of seven people, no young newbies so loads of interesting conversations and so much knowledge. I really learned loads today.

Once the day finished in school I had a very good excuse to go shopping, fresh top and all that since I didn’t manage to pack properly this morning. And to be real honest, I have to do laundry. No matter how many tops I buy it feels like I never have any clean 😦

After shopping I just needed to wind down, and the hotel had the perfect spot for it.

At also seem like I’m in the Mekka of uniformed men, so loads to look at outside those windows. The only smolk this eve was the fact that the dinner food served at the hotel was the same that they served for lunch today (yes they got to hear all about it).

I forgave them when I saw the ice cream.

With such a day winding down isn’t real easy for me, I’m now enjoying a cuppa and Jon Henrik. If you don’t know him you should YouTube Jon Henrik Fjällgren, his Jojks are pretty awesome and good for the soul.

Peace out my peeps!

Why do I do this to myself Monday

My boss is nice enough to send me on a course, Procurement Law. It’s a two day course, Monday to Tuesday, and takes place in the Capitol. When you sit at work to book your flights you never find traveling a Sunday night a good idea. Of course not! Why would traveling an evening, arriving so that you can spend a quiet night in a hotel, waking up nice and rested on Monday ready to take on the day, be a good idea? Of course it’s much better to have to set your alarm for 4:45 to get into a taxi to the airport and then fly north, arriving to your course tired and cranky because someone figured bringing a small cranky child on a morning flight would be a great thing to do.

Then, as I’m not morning person to start out with  there’s a few things I should’ve thought about last night (even though or especially since, my traumatic day);

  1. When it’s closing in on midnight and you’re still not sleepy, maybe setting a second alarm could be a nice idea
  2. If you don’t set a second alarm, maybe closing the door to the room where your phone, the alarm, is located. Just a thought.
  3. If going on a trip for work where the information you need is only stored on the work phone, make sure that phone is charged.
  4. If you aren’t sleepy, you could probably spend the time packing up the things you need for your two days away. You know, little things like a clean t-shirt, underwear, pills and other little things like that.

This way, when your alarm finally wakes you up and the taxi driver is calling you wondering why you aren’t outside, you don’t forget the above-mentioned things.

I managed to charge my phone a little bit at the airport (yes, still managed to make the flight) enough to power it up and quickly forward the location info to my own and very charged phone. I also think there’s charging opportunities on the train (yes, train #trainjinx) from the airport to the city. I should be fine.

And if I’m lucky, there’s a nice store close to the hotel where I can find myself some new tops and such.

Last week I don’t know where my brain was, today I blame it all on Spidy!

As a side note, when I finished the above post I went to my purse for a book to read. Of course I managed to grab a bag without a book in it. How is that even possible?!?! I did however find;

  • My makeup bag, been looking for that
  • My gym locker lock, been looking for that
  • A charger I didn’t realize that I owned
  • Clothespin (don’t ask)

Amongst other things…

Trainjinx turned planejinx

For years now I’ve been having trouble with the trains, anything and everything than can go wrong have a tendency to do so when I’m around. Also this morning and I was only taking the train two stops.

It started with troubles with the ticketing machine, and as I came down to the track there was a train standing there. That train was due to leave 20 minutes before mine, and when that happens you get on and go because you don’t know when the next one is leaving. Thus, I was a little bit early to my destination as I would’ve been anyhow because I always take a train earlier than needed for important dates. So I had some time to do nothing.

I was waiting for my boss to pick me up for a drive to the Malmö airport, and I think it’s safe to say that I still haven’t been on a flight that left on time from that place, at least not that I can remember.

That meant that we had time for a coffee, and I hope SAS forgives my boss for smuggling some out of the lounge.

After a not too long wait we got on our flight and they where nice enough to keep our connection in the Capitol so that we could make our destination on time 🙂

Good thing there as I had a pretty cool Monday.
