#1 I did so good

I started out the year with the aim of trying to post at least once a day, then I got sick and that went down the drain…and then the blogging went down the drain.

I think I lasted 19 days, and since I love challenging myself, let’s aim for at least 20 this time around 🙂

I would have time to do some updates today because I aint planning on leaving my home…too much snow I’m telling you…

Germany 2018

There was no post yesterday

And I have a freakin good excuse.

The main reason for the travel this time was a big team event with work, that mean that I woke up in my fab hotel room yesterday morning…

IMG_20180130_230916.jpg…enjoyed the perks of complimentary coffee and mini croissants while jumping into a taxi for another hotel and hours, after hours of people talking. While drink liters of coffee and eat, eat and eat.

Then there was the required team event in the evening, which was fantabolous, at a BBQ place where we got to cook our own food while enjoying something they call an open bar.

I will admit to eating too much during the cooking process to not be hungry when it was all done, I will also admit to enjoying the local beer in such a way that it was a bit rough waking up this morning, and totally no possibility of blogging last night.

I mean, this morning was even so though that I forgot to take a pic of my hotel brekkie before I started eating it.

I might also be a bit blurry on what the speakers said during the first half of the day…

It has been great two days with good networking and all that jazz…so not too bad!

Germany 2018

That’s what you get for being a grown-up

Today was travel day and as per usual I’m so freaked out about sleeping in and missing my flight that I can’t fall asleep. I have never missed a flight for work and my brain and body should know that by now so it shouldn’t be a problem, still it was and around three this morning I finally pretty much passed out.

Since I did get around (well, I had the time to) to set the coffee maker last night, thus I woke up before my alarm this morning. Guessing it was mostly because I wasn’t sleeping that hard and the moment the coffee smell hit my nose I was awake.

Last time I was out flying my feet got so swollen that they hurt like hell in my grown-up shoes, so this time around I wore my new compression socks, hoping that they would take the edge off…yeah, no! We’ll see though as I ordered several different types hoping that at least one or two pair will do it for me.

To be honest here, the whole thing would be easier if I could just bring a second pair of not so grown-up shoes. It’s just that I rather bring the backpack than the rolling bag as it is less of a hassle on the flight, train and walk. Yes, I have real proper problems most of the time.

Well, this time I had company on the trip which was nice since of course the flight was delayed. Thinking that I might add time spent on delayed flights to the train count, to see how much time of my life I really waste (and after waiting for the bus in the freezing cold yesterday, maybe that as well). Instead of floating around the airport without a plan, we sat down for coffee and pastry 🙂

Whit a delayed flight (that had an already pushed departure time) we made it in time for lunch and half the day gone. I’m still working hard on catching up on the emails that piled up from last week when I was home sick, so having to stop for a meeting wasn’t the thing I really wanted to do.

By the end of that meeting, it was time to pull the brakes on an already long day so we packed up and went for dinner. At that time there was plans for going back to the hotel room after dinner to get back into those mails.

We ended up going to this mexican place with fantastic margaritas and at that point I decided that the mails can wait. Burrito and strawberry margarita, not bad for a Tuesday eve. All other problems (other than that my feet hurt like hell) are suddenly very, very far away.

10 pm suddenly felt like midnight, and I’m now cuddled up in the hotel bed with the possibility of some proper sleep coming on. I’m dead tired and I can sleep until 8 tomorrow…fingers crossed for some good times. If I fall asleep early I can use the morning for those mails, if I don’t, at least I get to sleep in without worrying about missing a plane…

Life In General

From 100 to zero and then back again

It’s been very quiet since last Friday, I know. I went home and crashed and boy did I crash. At first I blamed it on a bad PMS weekend, then on Monday when I woke up with a fever I realized it was more than that.

I figured a cold, it will pass. Then for every day that passed and I woke up with a body that just screamed NO WAY! And me wanting to go to work and do my thing, I just had to accept that I was out for the count…and no matter how much I wanted to, last week is one of those weeks that I can just add to the “nothing is going on here what so ever” weeks.

IMG_20180120_102023_196.jpg

Since earlier I had plans to go to the summer house and hang with mother dearest for the weekend. I even had a rental car booked to get things transferred to mother and the summer house. Sleeping away half of Friday I had to realize that there would be no driving that day instead I took the train. That amazingly enough left on time and brought me where I wanted to go on time.

Friday night also brought proper food for the first time in a week, yey!!

IMG_20180126_200652.jpg

Then, as me and mother love ice hockey as much we went for a game, not the usual team but still a good distraction even though I almost fell asleep during the third period, my booty still not up to speed.

IMG_20180127_175457.jpg

All in all it was a good weekend and finally today I was back at work, only to realize that pretty much half the team I work in was out for the count.

You can say what you want about being sick, it never fits the schedule however, last week I had two meetings planed for the whole week and the rest was to be me time. And yes, it stressed me out not being able to do my thing.

IMG_20180129_081100.jpg

Still, this week kicked of with a full day training session and tomorrow is travel time, bringing me back home on Thursday night and Saturday is part 1 of this years birthday season.

If I had to be sick, last week was the week to be so, I have a crazy (still exciting) schedule coming up, so I hope it’s all over and done with!!

Need to decide what to do with the run schedule though, what you think, start over or start where I left off? Expert opinions welcome ma peeps!

#19 2018 Just an ordinary Friday

I left you yesterday with my magical run, after that it was back to work like the diligent little worker I am. Then afterwards I met up with Mr Grumpy II for some yum, yum.

IMG_20180118_174102.jpgThen after a quick snack I met up with one of the colleagues for Pub quiz…where I had so much fun (and we did real good, the winners scored 25 and we had 22) that I totally forgot to take pictures.

Even though it didn’t end up being a late night, I still accidentally turned my alarm off this morning and did a rush to work (past 7/11 for coffee since I forgot to set the coffee maker last night). In the rush I also forgot all about smoothie and lunch so I had a good excuse for sushi lunch, not too shabby.

IMG_20180119_115207.jpgSince it’s Friday and I was sent a free gift in the coffee place app, why not another fancy coffee before heading back to the office to sit of the rest of the day?

I did a fairly short day today as my couch was calling my name, and that’s where I spent the evening. Feet up, watching crap TV while playing quality games. It’s what I call the perfect Friday eve, even when friends are trying to convince you to come out and eat dinner at your favourite burger place, the couch wins!

Running 2018

I feel better now

After dragging my running clothes back and forth to Germany without using them, it was nice that I got around to it today.

2018-01-18

It was a heavy run today, and of course it started raining about five minutes after I left the office.

Still it is better to have done it than not at all…yey me!

And this new set up with running during my lunch, eating lunch at home before hitting the shower and then back to work, is fantastic! I’m hoping that I will be able to keep it up.

#18 2018 No magic here

When the alarm went of at 7 am yesterday morning, I had one look out the window, changed the time for 8 and went back to bed. You could see through the window how cold it was outside, and my whole body was just screaming NOOOOOOOOOOO! And when the body says no, you have to listen.

The hotel I’m staying at wont let me book a room that includes breakfast anymore, so I did the cheap skate thing…leftovers from the flight down (I mean, I had brekkie in the lounge so can’t say I was hungry when on the plane…).

IMG_20180117_091414.jpg

I was real tired all day long, and again the food portions at lunch doesn’t help as food coma hits before you even finish it.

IMG_20180117_121032.jpg

The trip homeward was interesting, as when I was sitting at the airport waiting for my flight, my buddies from Las Palmas let me know that they were coming home for a bit and wondered if I had time to meet up. When I asked when they would arrive, they said: in about two hours. So we landed pretty much at the same time, yey for company on the train 🙂

Then I came home and sat down in front of the PC to give you an update, it just wouldn’t happen, my brain was total mush…so you got it now instead! Better late than never, right?
