A couple of days in Vegas is more than enough, so after trying a local Diner for breakfast we started walking towards the car rental place.
We managed to score a car around noon rather than at 3pm that was the original plan. We just need to get out, and we did it in style…this tiny little car;
We also didn’t realize that Area 51 was on our way from Vegas to Beatty, where we had a motel booked for the flight. So I now have a nice little Facebook check-in there, how cool isn’t that?
I want to remember taking pictures where we stopped for coffee, but can’t find them on my phone…hmmm!
Beatty turned out to be an interesting place as well, we already knew that our Motel had an Alien outside, it also had a nice place with cold beer and a Swedish lady that spent the past 25 years or so in the US. That got us introduced to the locals, you know: the gun carrying kind…
was a wet eve that landed me in bed early, too tired to fool Mr Grumpy II into digging a hole in the ground.
Ok, so the one post a day last week didn’t work out, I was to busy with the end of the World Cup and beer…which brought me to a Monday where I kept telling myself that I’m not 25 anymore. Need to remember that more often.
I also managed only one run last week, better than none and it started the running again. I managed yet another lunch-run today. So yes, I feel mighty pleased with myself.
In addition, after what feels like forever with heat, there was rain today. While I was running, it was just drizzling a bit so not too bad running weather. It cooled me off enough for generating a want of soup lunch.
I need to improve my knowledge about my stove, that can’t be counted as new anymore since it’s been a while since the grand kitchen renovation. It has some kind of lock mechanism that I don’t always realize how it activates, and since it happens so seldom it always take me a while to figure out how to unlock the damn thing. Not great when you are on a time schedule and need to get back to work.
Well, all good that ends well. Fingers crossed that get of my butt on Thursday for another run (and that Runkeeper is kinder to me then and stop cutting out).
Yesterday two of my colleagues from foreign offices came for a visit and that meant dinner after work with team, oh what a chore. I wanted them to get to try something new so I brought them to Pinchos, who can resist tiny food ordered through an app?
Their Sangria is pretty fab as well.
Then there was that thing we call football! Sweden isn’t in the cup anymore, that doesn’t stop me from cheering for Croatia when my English colleague is sitting next to me being sad. Horrible me. She got even by making me in to an English fan though…
It got in kind of late so thank heaven for 7/11 this morning as I couldn’t be bothered programming my coffee and stuff last night when I came home a bit after midnight.
For some reason I had a silly idea that I would go running this morning, that didn’t happen so lets see if I can make it happen tonight.
And I have a freakin good excuse.
The main reason for the travel this time was a big team event with work, that mean that I woke up in my fab hotel room yesterday morning…
…enjoyed the perks of complimentary coffee and mini croissants while jumping into a taxi for another hotel and hours, after hours of people talking. While drink liters of coffee and eat, eat and eat.
Then there was the required team event in the evening, which was fantabolous, at a BBQ place where we got to cook our own food while enjoying something they call an open bar.
I will admit to eating too much during the cooking process to not be hungry when it was all done, I will also admit to enjoying the local beer in such a way that it was a bit rough waking up this morning, and totally no possibility of blogging last night.
I mean, this morning was even so though that I forgot to take a pic of my hotel brekkie before I started eating it.
I might also be a bit blurry on what the speakers said during the first half of the day…
It has been great two days with good networking and all that jazz…so not too bad!
I left you yesterday with my magical run, after that it was back to work like the diligent little worker I am. Then afterwards I met up with Mr Grumpy II for some yum, yum.
Then after a quick snack I met up with one of the colleagues for Pub quiz…where I had so much fun (and we did real good, the winners scored 25 and we had 22) that I totally forgot to take pictures.
Even though it didn’t end up being a late night, I still accidentally turned my alarm off this morning and did a rush to work (past 7/11 for coffee since I forgot to set the coffee maker last night). In the rush I also forgot all about smoothie and lunch so I had a good excuse for sushi lunch, not too shabby.
Since it’s Friday and I was sent a free gift in the coffee place app, why not another fancy coffee before heading back to the office to sit of the rest of the day?
I did a fairly short day today as my couch was calling my name, and that’s where I spent the evening. Feet up, watching crap TV while playing quality games. It’s what I call the perfect Friday eve, even when friends are trying to convince you to come out and eat dinner at your favourite burger place, the couch wins!
I’m pretty happy that my 1pm to 4:30pm meetings over the phone ended up being the one meeting between 1 and 2 instead. That gave me time to work through some stuff and leave the office in good time as I wanted to pick up a very important package before meeting up with the Latte Mum.
I have to say that I am seriously impressed, as I on Sunday night ordered myself a new, blue, phone. Yesterday I received a message that it was on its way, and today it arrived at the post office. Any Swede would understand why I’m so impressed, as all you can read about Swedish postal services at the moment are how horrible they are.
Anyhow, I’m now the proud owner of a new blue toy…sooooo excited (picture stolen from the internet…). For you who don’t know it, it’s an Honor 9 made by the company that I can never pronounce – Huawei.
On my way home I ran into the best neighbor on the planet, and managed to lure her to one of my favourite hang-outs, Drumbar. And mother dearest should be happy to hear that they didn’t have my usual Amber Ale so today I tried a Winter beer instead.
Then it was onwards to the station where I met up with the Latte Mum for a trip to IKEA, and here I seriously count on this being a grown-up thing, for Christmas Food. If that’s not grown-up I don’t know what is…
So we had a good time and some nice food before heading home, where I’m now sitting updating my new toy thinking of what I need to prep tomorrow as I managed to give my self an early start…
I got to sleep until I woke up, no alarm clock. I got to take my time waking up and getting ready to get out of the house, no one chasing me to do stuff.
I’m in a place where it’s warm and the sun is shining.
I got coffee and a sandwich in peace and quiet.
I got beer and reading books at beer o’clock.
I got lovely company and fab food in the afternoon.
I had a lovely walk around with nice company before an amazing dinner on the terrace, outside, in November!!
I LOVE this place ma peeps, think I wanna stay forever.
