Date no 3

Miss legal was waiting for me as I got off the metro, it’s been ages since we saw each other last so it was awesome to just hang. Since she has been away climbing a very large mountain there was really only one option, bubbles!

Spending quality times with your friends are just the best, so when date no four went missing in action it wasn’t an issue at all as date no three just got extended to more talk about awesome mountains, life in general and red wine.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be an all nighter as date no five is looming in the future, or as soon as the bus shows up! Da Teacher, I’m on my way!

Later peeps!

The Swedish goddess go cupboard diving

This week I worked a whooping 35 hours, the closest I have been to normal working for a very long time, it feels real good and I’m feeling a bit like myself. The only think is the scatter brain and the lack of energy to go grocery shopping. So tonight I went through the cupboards, fridge and freezer and actually came up with a real nice meal.

Starting with the vegetables I bought for the non-dinner the other day (you know when I went for coffee and came home without);

VeggiesThen there was half a chicken, cooked and ready to be defrosted that I found in the freezer;

ChickenFor some reason I also had real cheese cravings, and the only cheese I had at home was the sliced one that I bought for my toasties, but what the heck; cheese is cheese!

CheeseAdd it all together in a bowl;

In da bowlAdd some pasta, olive oil, salt and pepper and you have yourself and awesome chicken salad;

ReadyMy freezer is getting a bit empty now and the magical meals are getting less and less magical, everything gets a tad bit more magical when you partake some of this with it though;

Friday eveningNow it’s time to rest, I have a real busy weekend planned with loads of time with good friends and a little time with family. Hope you all have an awesome weekend as well.

Over and out from the Swedish Goddess!

Better late than never

I’m almost ashamed to admit that this little baby has been in my home since christmas, and I haven’t managed to use it until now.

My baby

It was a christmas gift from my wonderful grandmother, and something I have been wanting for a very long time. I guess between christmas and now, life got in the way! Nice to know that I’m getting back on track!

At the grocery store today I bought myself a cheese and the whole way home I had cravings for a grilled cheese sandwich only to come home, open the bag with bread and realise that it was all mouldy! Thus, time to bring out the good old kitchen aid! I even had to take some of the plastic of 😦

I’m proud of my kitchen that not only have the machine but also all the ingredients to make very yum home-made bread, like yeast for example;

YeastI used one of my recipe books rather than the internet for this one, I got to have so much fun, like melting butter;

Melting butterMixing the ingredients together in my fancy machine (and right here you should be happy I can’t post videos, I would have done it);

MixingBut boy what a difference a machine makes. Usually my doughs are dense and hard when they have finished rising. Today it was soft and fluffy, a joy do deal with.

DoughUsually my bread is pretty much the same size coming out of the oven as it was going in, today it wasn’t;

Ready for the ovenOut of the ovenAnd once done, it was so soft, light and fluffy; a pure joy to eat.

FinishedAnd here I will end the ode to my kitchen machine and the amazing bread it makes (not sure it’s that great for grilled cheese sandwiches, must try tomorrow). After baking, dinner cooking, driving classes and completing pretty much everything on the to-do list for the day. Me and my bread has cuddled up in front of a well deserved mini session of the Big Bang Theory.

So much more fun than finding a Friday office

Before I went to bed last night I had some strange idea that I would take company with my mother this morning when she went to class. Then I would find a nice place to set up office before heading to the outskirts of Gotham where the people with children live, for lunch. This didn’t happen!

I might have been sitting up watching TV a tad late last night, I might not even heard my mother when she left this morning, and when the person with children send me a message telling me there was a snowstorm in the outskirts I might just have gone back to sleep.

As I woke up for real when my friend from the outskirts called to confirm that there will be no lunch, since the nice beautiful powder snow outside my window had snowed in her car, and she wasn’t in the mood to dig it out. There was also something about not wanting to drive slow, no fun! The lunch has been postponed for next week, and my lunch date today became my mother. I think she was procrastinating, as her class was over and she had studying to do.

Before throwing on some clothes and heading into town I did manage to send of a mail to the lady that had a hand in my last carrier (she hired me for a 6 week temp job at the big company where I just finished last month, it became almost a year as a “temp” before I was hired on to the company) to let her know that I was now available for temp jobs again.

Lunch was partaken at a place called The Golden Days where they have a pretty decent lunch buffet. It does bring back memories of the golden days going there, when I was younger it was a place where the 18 year old’s and there about would go for beer on a Friday or Saturday night. It felt a bit strange to sit there and eat a late lunch with all the retired people (guessing the people with jobs eat closer to twelve than one thirty).Lunch

After lunch my mother wanted to check out a cute little store that she had gone past on the bus a few times, and I said why not. The first thing I find when I walk in is a really cute and comfortable looking sweater. Looking at the price tag I was just about to put it back down, when I saw the 70% sale sign! Seriously! 70%! I now own that very same sweater!Sweater 1

Moving on, we stopped by my favorite store where they had 50% on most of the already 50% discounted items, and all of a sudden I had yet another sweater in my hands (that happened to be the same brand as my all-time favorite bags, good day indeed).Sweater 2

My last stop on the shopping trip was at the cellphone company, by extending my plan for another period I got a brand new toy for free! Joy!New Toy

Unfortunately, when I came home, I realized that this new toy needs a smaller SIM card than the one I have in my present phone, which mean that tomorrow I have to go back and make them give me one. Not sure how or if that will work, as I almost had to walk out of there without the phone today. It turned out that he wanted to send the damn thing to me, and since I don’t know when I’m going back home I found that to be a bit silly. I mean, if I wanted to pick up my phone at the post office I would have ordered one online not walked into their store. After me telling him it wasn’t acceptable at all, he “found one last one” in the back. Strange if you ask me.

Since today is Friday (impressed that I know the day of the week?) you also need to follow the tradition of “Fredagsmys”, directly translated this means Fridaycosy. This is where a family sit down in front of the telly with something like Taco dinner, and then chips and snacks afterwards. Our Fredagsmys was spent with daddy in his very own hospital room, and some wine and cheese watching Swedens favorite qameshow, På Spåret (On the track, a program that I will explain to you some other time). cheese and wine

The things that I do miss about Gotham City

People keep asking me if I consider moving back to Gotham and if I miss it, I’m not and I don’t – with some exceptions.

One big thing that I miss is the ice-hockey (pretty sure that I have mentioned it before), yes Malmö has a team, they are just not as good as the one from Gotham. Adding to that no one in Malmö, at least that I know, likes ice-hockey so I don’t have anyone to go to the games with.Scandinavium

In Gotham the team is good, they used to be better, now they are good enough and the fans are good. Nothing beats sitting in a pretty full arena with good atmosphere and good company. My parents have season tickets and days like today when my dad was too tired to go, I get to go instead. It’s a nice few hours of mother-daughter time where we can yell and scream like there is no tomorrow in a place where no one cares that we don’t behave like ladies. I mean everyone around us are behaving exactly the same.

Even if they for some reason have stopped playing the national anthem in the beginning of the game (stupid in my opinion, it was a nice touch) the boys still line up. The boysAnd no game is complete without the junk food, a quick stop to good old McDonald’s before the game start and I’m good to go. The boys didn’t play that good today, they did win in the end after some exciting final seconds and that is an improvement from the last few games that I have been to, it seem that they have a tendency to lose whenever I am there.

Afterwards me and mother dearest went home and settled down in front of the telly with some of her Christmas cheeses and a glass of red wine. The first kind of alcohol I had since I got home since the normal Christmas binge was lost due to the tummy bug.Wine and cheeseA pretty awesome Friday night if you ask me, and that is some of the things I miss about Gotham. Right now I am feeling a tad bit homesick, I miss my bed and my apartment. It’s only two sleeps left until I will be back there so I’ll manage. And tomorrow sounds like it’s going to be a pretty cool day as well! See you then.
