The light at the end of the tunnel

The last post was in September last year, with a picture of me and an Alien, and I can understand that you might think that I was kidnapped by just Aliens due to the radio silence since.

The rest of the vacation was fab, just not good enough Wi-Fi to keep posting and then it was time to go home.

Already before the va-cay, I doubted my work life as I was unhappy with my job, the contents, the workload and the expectations. When I returned home from the vacation I felt fantastic, relaxed and happy – until the alarm rang the next morning and I realized I had to go back to work. The stress, the tummy ache and the wanting to pull the cover back over my head; it all came back to me.

I decided then that it was time to change my job, I missed working within the Finance & Accounting area, missed my large excel sheets full of data and if I never had to see a contract again I would’ve been the happiest on the planet. Unfortunately a new job doesn’t happen overnight and as the fall moved towards winter and darker time’s things just kept piling on.

When it was time for next vacation I felt like I had reached my breaking point and while I at this point had a new job in the pipeline, I seriously needed three weeks of relaxing vacation – unfortunately that didn’t happen. The things just kept piling on.

The new job took what felt like forever to come to realization and then on top of that, a 3 month resignation period. Even though my old boss was kind enough to let my new boss borrow me (the advantage of moving within the company) so I could get a sneak start to the new job.

With spring, the new job and a few sessions with an absolutely fantabolus shrink, I’m now finding that I feel like both my feet are properly placed on earth, that I’m happy and laughing again (of course not constantly), got my appetite back and that I reached that light in the end of the tunnel.

With the smiles come the energy, I have managed to get so much done in the apartment, I feel like going running again, applied for online courses and, the best of all…I feel like blogging again!!!

So, eight months down the line, I need to check out the changes to WordPress, see if I can find a new fresh layout to the blog and then just get back into it…starting with a trip to the US coming up this weekend!!!!

Feeling mighty pleased with myself :)

Ok, so the one post a day last week didn’t work out, I was to busy with the end of the World Cup and beer…which brought me to a Monday where I kept telling myself that I’m not 25 anymore. Need to remember that more often.

I also managed only one run last week, better than none and it started the running again. I managed yet another lunch-run today. So yes, I feel mighty pleased with myself.

In addition, after what feels like forever with heat, there was rain today. While I was running, it was just drizzling a bit so not too bad running weather. It cooled me off enough for generating a want of soup lunch.

I need to improve my knowledge about my stove, that can’t be counted as new anymore since it’s been a while since the grand kitchen renovation. It has some kind of lock mechanism that I don’t always realize how it activates, and since it happens so seldom it always take me a while to figure out how to unlock the damn thing. Not great when you are on a time schedule and need to get back to work.

Well, all good that ends well. Fingers crossed that get of my butt on Thursday for another run (and that Runkeeper is kinder to me then and stop cutting out).

Food, food and more food

One of the first things that goes when the mood goes is my appetite, thus a day like today makes me see the light…

I had my monthly date with my replacement who’s an awesome person, (and not saying this because I know she reads the blog at times, I really wish that I could’ve worked together with her rather than she replacing me and she’s becoming a good friend as well…) and we hit a place called Rosegarden which is all you can eat for a fair penny.

How about some sushi…

IMG_20180104_113538.jpgSome soup with boil your own noodles and put what you want in it (beware of the chili, it’s chili-like)…

IMG_20180104_114342.jpg

Any why not top it off with some other yum stuff…

IMG_20180104_115917.jpgAnd oh my god, they have an ice cream machine…next time I might just go there only for the ice cream!!

IMG_20180104_121202.jpgAnd that was only my lunch.

After that I went back to work, and hear this, actually worked. It’s been a bit slow for me for a while, which doesn’t suit my personality what so ever so it’s nice that it’s starting to pick back up. Good for my mood and all that jazz…

Then I lured Mr Grumpy II out of hiding to break my not chosen white month.

What happened is that the corner bar is closed for renovation and loads of people around me are doing the new year, new habits thing. So no after work chill, unless you lure them with comments like; “mind watching me drink a glass of wine at xxx bar”. It worked 🙂

IMG_20180104_172951.jpgI know it’s good for the Debbie Downer to not indulge in alcoholic brevages so I’m not complaining really. It’s nice to have a wind down after work though.

Then going home being to lazy to cook I ordered in some more, can you guess? Yes!! Food…

Do like my mexican, and happy that I’m with an appetite. Thinking that I let my work situation rule to much of my emotional world though. If work is good, I’m good, if work isn’t, I’m not. Think that something that needs to change.

Sticking with the 7ns

After last weeks success I will do another one, which I was planning on doing last night, stuff just (like reading and so) got in the way.

I’m going to stick with some of the same as I had last week, because I can…

  1. Post at least once a day on the blog. It’s more for me than you guys since the blog is a good way to clear my brain from all the crazy stuff going on in there (yeah, I know, I missed out on one last week, I just enjoyed doing nothing so much).
  2. Think positive. As fall is coming and summer has been crap mood-wise, I think that I should make sure that I think at least one positive thought a day. If I manage it I already have stuff for point one of this list, damn I’m good (super proud of the outcome so totally keeping this one up).
  3. Cut down on the money wasting. When I walk in to the 7/11 in the morning (read closer to 11 than 7), the boys get my cappuccino going while I’m waiting in line to order and pay for it. I would say that’s a sign that I spend waaaaaaay too much money on coffee at my 7/11. So this week, no take-away coffees (even stuck to it this morning even though it wasn’t on the blog yet and the machine is programmed for the morning). I also moved the money I saved from last week in to the bathroom account.wp-image-1227137323
  4. Not oversleep. I did a whole week of not doing it, and this morning doesn’t count as oversleep since I did wake up on time, it was just that I wanted to read one chapter in the book before going to work…wp-image-1251299479
  5. Do one round of something looking like exercise. Last week I aimed for two, managed none so aiming for a more attainable goal this week.
  6. Eat the frog. I have one thing at work that keeps dragging on that really needs to be done, now it needs to be done, and that is on Tuesday, first thing. I’m not allowed to go home from work until it’s done. That’s just how it is and if you don’t know what eating the frog means, check this place out
  7. Practice the German. I work for a Germany company and spend some time down there, I also took french back in my school days. So now I have an app on my phone to keep me basic German. The goal of the week being to practice a little every day. Ich sprechen nicht deutsch.

I wish I could do the de-clutter one it’s just that I don’t have that many days home so it wont happen. Need to be realistic ma peeps.

Dear Turkish Airlines

I forgive you for boarding the flight an hour late and then making us wait on the plane for 45 minutes. I forgive you for two extremely bumpy flights. I forgive you for calling out for a doctor on the first flight. Your service and food was fantabolus! And I’m looking forward to flying with you again on my return flight home.

It wasn’t your fault that my roll-on deodorant broke in the bathroom, with the ball flying all over the place ensuring that I’m now covered in deodorant, just in the wrong places. I managed to buy a new one at the 7/11 here in Bangkok airport so maybe I don’t smell that bad on the buss ride.
Thank you for showing the Hunger games so I had something to watch while waiting on the tarmac and for not turning it off during take-off (yes Da Teacher…it worked from gate to gate).

image

I also enjoyed the Martian (understand why it ended up in the comedy section), Bones (after my dinner for once rather than during), not too sure about Unbroken though.

Falling asleep during a movie where a plane crashes only to be awoken by crazy turbulence. The same with Burnt, a movie where they smoke and cook amazing food when you are stuck on a plane?!?

Either way, my trip (after the initial stuff that I already forgiven you for) was perfect!
And yes, not to forget, the awesomely cool travel pouches.

A room with a view

After saying goodnight to you peeps last night I actually managed to unpack and realized that I forgot one of my books on the airplane, the world as we know it is gone…I might or might not survive.
This morning the alarm was set for nine, I thought that I would wake up earlier due to the past few days early rising, must have been tired tough as I was fast asleep when it rang and woke up to this.

image

Breakfast was partaken at the hotel, not too shabby;

This before it was time to walk, walk and then walk some more around the World Heritage old city.

Lunch was by the market and water, always nice with some roll your own food.

The afternoon was spent back at the hotel and the pool that happens to be at our hotel.

This before the Queen herself dragged me back to the city for a music and dance performance. I would love to tell you that it was an amazing piece of Vietnamese culture, however it’s more like 40 minutes of my life I would like to have back.

However the restaurant I was dragged to afterwards served dinner to die for so the Queen herself is forgiven. First chips and Mango salsa.

image

A wonderful Mango cocktail.

Inside;

A vegetable snack on the house.

image

Tuna crevice for starter.

image

Another type of Mango cocktail;

image

Meat wrapped shrimps for main;

image

And the coolest toilet in town;

If you ever stop by Hoi An, Mango Room is the place to go.
After all that walking and eating the hotel room was calling our name, more exactly the bed that I’m tucked into right now. I just have a little hard time falling asleep as I crazy rash developed on my leg and I’m a bit freaked out and want to see how it develops. I’m sure it’s nothing and gone by tomorrow…

Sushido Rörsjöstaden

So, I was on my way home from work and real hungry. On my way home I passed by a Sushi place that I never visited before and even though Latte Mum wasn’t with me I decided to do a blog review fly-by.DSC_0866

Walking in to the place looks real nice and as I want my Edamame beans and Miso soup hot I decided to sit down and eat my food rather than take-away. After a rather long wait even though I was pretty much by myself in there I received a healthy serving of a nice tasting Miso soup (in a take-away cup).DSC_0867Unfortunately the Miso soup was the best item of my meal. The place is apparently niched towards take-away as I received everything in plastic containers even though I was eating in, that includes a very cold serving of Edamame beans, to my great disappointment as hot ones was one of my main reasons for sitting in.

DSC_0870It also made me wonder why it took so long before I received my meal, it turned out that it was already made behind the counter and in order to cater for my special request (I pretty much only eat Salmon and Tuna in my sushi) she took some out of one plastic box and replaced with some from another plastic box, mmmm tempting.DSC_0871The rice was falling to pieces making it real hard to eat, and even though she changed the Nigiri based on my request I made the mistake of not looking at the Maki that properly before eating. Looking at the picture above it’s pretty clear that she didn’t bother to exchange them, I didn’t notice before I put it in my mouth.

All in all, I wasn’t that impressed and I doubt that Latte Mum will be upset at me for doing my own session, she didn’t have to waste money on not that fantastic sushi. Still it wasn’t as bad as some of the others we tried this far as it made it all the way into a silver position (for now), you can see the standings here.Sushido Sushi Points
