A looooong day

I’ve been visiting Gotham this weekend, and since spending a Sunday eve on a train only to come home to an empty appartment is kind of depressing, I prefer the Monday morning train. Except for when the alarm goes of at 05:30 am…and today I didn’t manage to fall back to sleep when I sat down. So, after breakfast I started up the work PC and got at it.

Sometimes there is brekkie

Almost in chock when the train arrived in Malmö on time I headed over to work and did work stuff, you know those things you do at work; drink coffee, go for lunch, chat with those you work with, and oh! I think I saw an Excelsheet. And since I came from Gotham I couldn’t bring lunch, thus I had to go buy some…

After work I had plans to attend a seminar held by a person that I really want to hear what they have to say. I just suck at planning since getting up at 5:30am, train and work doesn’t bode well for 5:30pm plans, so I flagged it.

Then I realized that one of the reason why I like staying at my mums place is because she doesn’t have problems with the heating. Last night, I left the balcony door open for a few minutes while enjoying the fresh air, here I sit with my winter slippers on as well as a blankie because it’s freezing…!!!

Yup, it’s cold..

What better way to end a day like this than with frozen pizza on the couch in front of the telly watching crappy TV? None, my friends! See you all again tomorrow…right?!?

#11 2018 One of THOSE days

Not much went my way today.

I didn’t get out of bed when I wanted to, even though the running is on and the mood is getting better, I’m still having troubles going to bed (no problem sleeping once I get there though). That creates problems in my scheduling as I naively think that tomorrow is the day…so I had to flag the running session I had planned.

So the morning rushed past, still managed my homemade smoothie though, at the home office before a visit to the ladies doctor (not my favourite, not as bad as the dentist but totally up there with things I don’t enjoy) who did her thing then promptly informed me that she’s about to retire. As I’m quite fond of the lady (even though she’s a ladies doctor) I didn’t take the news too well.

Then it was back home to pick up the stuff that I totally (not) packed last night before heading in to the office, where I promptly enjoyed my fantastic lunch.

The positive thing is that work is finally picking up again, the less positive is the Monday deadline that suddenly appeared. With a half-day planned tomorrow, that’s going to be interesting as the afternoon swished by.

Before finally sinking down in a comfy train seat I needed to pick up some more food and headed to Subway where I ended up behind the kind of people who stand in line for ever and still don’t know what they want when it’s their turn. Absolutely fantastic as my departure time got closer and closer.

I should’ve known there where no rush as there was no train once I hit the platform. And then there was no train, and no train. Well, after about 20 minutes the train arrived and we were allowed on. Delayed train on single track stretches are the death of me since you constantly end up behind slower trains…slooooow trains.

We finally arrived to Gotham about 51 minutes later than the original arrival time, with delays like that I rather it be a full hour, since then you at least get some money back on the ticket.

That delay also killed all hopes about a late nite run, as it was just too late and I was too tired. So I’ve just spent the rest of the night on mother dearest couch in front of the telly, with the hope of a better tomorrow that includes a run.

After rain comes sunshine 

I kind of figured that it couldn’t get much worse than it did on Thursday and this far I’ve been right. It doesn’t hurt when the day starts with cuddly nieces and Oscar Zia (didn’t get to cuddle with him though) at the now yearly visit to swedish state TV summer break morning program for kids…

When the live TV recording was over, I had to head to work while the rest of the family kept enjoying having the day off. That meant having to pretend to be a grown-up for a bit, eat food (that looks fantastic, however it was waaaay to salty)  with the colleague and then leave again…

It was Friday, the sun was shining and family was in town so I did go for a fairly not too late Friday in the office so I could meet up with the sister and girls in the park for a bit. She then ditched the kids with their dad so we could have a slow walk back to mother-in-laws place. It’s always nice with sister-time.

Then classical Friday food here in Sweden, Tex Mex!

The girls finished watching Charlie and the Chocolate factory, big sacrifice for me to watch it with them, before they headed to bed and grown-up TV came on – British Crime, some of the best things about summer TV, that and all the old crappy movies they show.

Wow, that was such a better day than Thursday, and know what? I don’t think I cried a single time…

7 Things to feel better

Sitting here on my couch, way too late for a school night (due to a three-day weekend so night is day and day is night), feeling a bit pleased with myself as the laundry basket is empty (that means I’ve done all the laundry) and the fridge full since I managed to leave my couch long enough to do grocery shopping, contemplating my life (and the length of this sentence). The result?

Wow, it’s been long since I did a 7-things list, the last one I can find is from is from the beginning of February last year (not sure what happened with the rest of that year to be honest, might have to go back and read my own blog on that topic). That means it’s time for another one, it’s gonna be a 7-thing/project type of thing since it’s been a while since my last little project as well.

Ready? Here we go…

  1. Be a tourist in my own city – being in Essen this past weekend the conversation came up again, what one do and don’t do in your hometown. At least I’m real bad at going to the museums and sites here in Malmö, so I figured that I would make an attempt to be better at it. I think I’ll start with the Lonely Planet list to make it easy…and if anyone has some good ideas let me know.
  2. Cook more food at home – during my poor student days (not that long ago) I became real good at planning weekly menus and cooking at home. Now I spend too much time eating out, both for lunch and dinner – because I can. I do really love cooking though so I wanna get back in it. Starting today when there will be a box of food complete with recipes, delivered at my door. Ok, so starting it off half-lazy.
  3. Become less materialistic – I have noticed that I use shopping a little bit like therapy. I buy something and it makes me feel good…every time. Not a lasting feeling at all, so I figure that I will attempt to buy less things.
  4. Declutter – I’m a piler…there I said it! I have piles all over my apartment and we share the space in a co-existing kind of way. I think that it would be a nice change to attempt to get rid of them. It also ties into point three, I don’t need all this stuff.
  5. Take better care of my body – Yes, I run and I bike (faaaar) I just don’t exercise that much in between. I’m not planning on becoming a health nut or anything, I just feel that maybe I should move around a bit other than biking to and from work. And also maybe start my day with something else than coffee and a cancerstick…just saying – there’s probably a reason why my booty haven’t liked me or treated me nicely the past few months.
  6. Think more about the environment – I’m getting a bit better at recycling and I usually bring reusable bags to the grocery store. So I guess, being even better at recycling, try to avoid buying things with too much packaging, turning of the lights and all that jazz (maybe start with reading up on how to be nice to the environment).
  7. Less screen time – I spend most of my days at work in front of a computer, and my phone and then I come home and spend time infront of the TV with my computer or phone as well. So I want to do less of that, I mean, I can just turn my radio on when I’m home if I want background noise, and a book will keep my company just as well as the TV and computer will, right? So more of that…

That’s that, starting today! And since I’m not too keen on rules, there are no rules really…other than that I want to include one of the points in my everyday life everyday…

Who cares about those plans anyhow?

My plan for Friday was to spend the whole day on the couch watching TV doing nothing, because I had the day off – no work, no school! It didn’t really happen that way. I slept late, had breakfast and pretty much landed on the couch before it was time for lunch and a walk.Lunch Walking

It was a nice lunch, and a nice walk, however it took us late into the afternoon. Once I got back on the couch it was planning time. Our hockey team is playing Sunday and I had to figure out if it was anyway I could get home after the game ended, and if I could we then needed to sort out a ticket for me. Said and done, I found a bus that left Gotham in good time after the game (there is room for overtime and penalties even), so now I’m going on a bus between my two cities for the first time ever!

The tickets in the area were my mum usually sits weren’t available online, so we went to the stadium to get one, and we did, so yey hockey on Sunday! On our way home my sister calls for a chat and when she realizes that we are in the car she wonders if we can stop by the shop and bring something over – since we have the best mummy in the world, we did! I then ended up staying at my sisters for a few hours, mum was studying anyhow and my sister was husbandless for the evening.

It was fun, a proper girls night with dancing, dress-up and snacks. Having nieces that are no longer babies are quite fun.

I didn’t get back to the couch until a bit after eight in the evening, just in time for Fredags Mys (explained here) and then the rest of the evening on the couch.Fredags Mys

So seriously, why do I even bother to plan? (But was a real nice day!!!)

Welcome to my office

It’s the first Monday of 2013 and many people are returning to work, or just going to work as usual since it is Monday, not me though. Since I have already fallen in to the bad habit of changing my hours around, night to day and day to night, I don’t also want to fall in to the bad habit of sitting at home watching TV and playing FB games in my sweatpants. Thus, I have today made myself head to the public library in order to stay clear from distraction at home and get around to apply for some jobs and other stuff that needs to be done.View from the office

Of course I didn’t leave home without my new thermos filled with coffee, and my beloved PC (downside with Facebook games is that they come with you when you bring your PC, I just have to stay strong.My officeI’m not alone here at the library, it’s filled with students and I was lucky that I got a seat. What I don’t understand is how all of them can have fancier computers than me, aren’t students supposed to be poor?
